Bark Cloth Art Workshop

Job Description

Bark cloth is made from  the trees of the Moraceae family. It is made by beating sodden strips of the fibrous inner bark of these trees into sheets. Barkcloth has been manufactured in Uganda for centuries and is Uganda's sole representative on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists

Students created Bark clorth artwork under the guidance of IVAN YAZUKE, a Ugandan artist kwown for his unique use of bark cloth as an artist's medium. Students created charming designs using motifs and imagery from their daily lives.
